Partners for Rural Improvement and Development in Ethiopia (PRIDE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving educational opportunities in several underserved, rural mountainous Ethiopian villages. Founded in 2006 by a volunteers in Boulder, Colorado, PRIDE orchestrates projects that further educational opportunities for children. Projects are centered around three primary pillars that when present, facilitate educational opportunities and advancement. The first type of project we refer to as school-based reconstruction projects as well as allocation of learning materials in schools; the second are clean water projects that reduce water-borne illnesses and diseases, and the third type of project is the construction of sanitary latrines which reduce unecessary exposure to human waste while enhancing dignity to school children and their families. When these projects are successfully implemented, educational opportunities flourish as witnessed through classroom attendance, educational performance, and student matriculation. PRIDE focuses its efforts on these three primary areas we believe with the greatest likelihood of breaking cycles of poverty.
PRIDE is looking for individuals, families, communities, and organizations that believe in this mission and have the ability and interest to help. With your support we will continue to focus on small-scale projects in these remote communities, with the intent of promoting permanent improvement to the quality of life of school children and their families. We hope you explore further our work, that you engage in our efforts and that you donate toward this cause you believe in.
